Educator and Writer

Professional Experience I have over twenty-five years professional experience in the computer industry and during that time I've held positions such as bench technician (repairing printed circuit boards), field repair technician, service manager, advanced technical support, new product service and support representative, new product service training, technical writer, project manager, OEM contract negotiator, systems analyst, database programmer, network design consultant and freelance technical writer.
With a few exceptions, these positions provided me with ongoing opportunities to either deliver training and/or instruction directly or design training curriculum to be delivered by others. In other words, I have been teaching and doing technical writing at some level since I started in the computer industry in 1980.
Over the last few years, I have focused primarily on education at the academic level and the professional (certification) level. My academic teaching experience has been at the community college level teaching Computer Science and Microsoft certification curriculum. I also spend a considerable amount of time as a technical writing and network consultant.
Certifications I have several professional certifications; Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Office Specialist (Office Specialist), Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) and CompTia Linux+. Level One and Two.
Operating Systems Expertise I have extensive experience at an expert level of the following operating systems; Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Linux Enterprise.
Software Expertise My knowledge of the following software is at an expert level; all Microsoft Office programs, Visio, Front Page, Project, SQL Server and OpenOffice. I also include most graphics and PC video creation and editing software such as Adobe Premier, ImageReady and Photoshop.
